Poas Volcano + Coffee plantations (Half day)

As we climb the mountain, we’ll notice a shift in both the temperature and the surrounding plants; along the way, we’ll pass coffee plantations, as well as farms growing ferns, flowers, and strawberries, offering a stunning blend of colors and landscapes.

Our journey begins with a delightful breakfast at the Doka Coffee Estate. Afterward, we’ll embark on a coffee tour through a working plantation, where we’ll discover the time-honored methods used by experts to produce some of Costa Rica’s finest coffee, renowned worldwide. We’ll witness the intricate process of growing, harvesting, and roasting the Golden Bean, all in a hands-on experience, before enjoying the delicious end result.

Next, we’ll head to Poás Volcano National Park, where the temperature and lush cloud forest environment will change once more.

The Poás Volcano is an active stratovolcano, standing at 2,708 meters (8,885 feet) tall. Its crater, over a mile wide and 1,050 feet deep, has erupted 40 times since 1828, including as recently as April 2017.

At the volcano, we’ll have time to marvel at the awe-inspiring main crater, with its sulfuric fumaroles, and take a scenic hike to the tranquil Botos Lagoon, learning about the diverse ecosystems within the park.
